Happy Halloween!

We had a busy, busy, busy Halloween in our classroom today!  After signing in, we read the story Inside a House That Is Haunted.  It had a lot of letter h words in it, such as hand, house, and haunted.  There was a song that went with the story that was a lot of fun!  In the end, the trick-or-treaters ended up scaring all of the creatures inside the house!  The children thought they would do a lot of scaring tonight during trick-or-treating too!

Our daily message was all about the walk in the woods that we were finally going to get to do!  The weather finally cooperated enough!

Then it was time to bundle up in our warm clothes to go on our walk with the Toneys'!  We had such a great time!

We made wishes at the wishing well.

Then we went into the nature center.  The Toneys' showed us all sorts of neat things, such as a snake skin, deer skulls, feathers, pelts, nests, and so much more!  We even got to walk around and touch the different items!

We walked through the woods towards the pond, discovering neat items such as pinecones, moss, mushrooms, and so much more!  We filled a bag full of items to look more closely at inside our classroom another day.

We finally made it to the pond!  It was too cold for the frogs to be out unfortunately, but we will try to visit the pond again in spring to hopefully see some tadpoles!  We used a net to try to stir up some animals from the bottom of the pond.  In the afternoon, we did find a bug that lives in the pond.  Everyone was excited about that!

Wow!  What an exciting walk through the woods!  We can't wait to do it again!

We had some special Halloween treats for snack.

Then we read a rhyming number story called Ten Timid Ghosts.  See if your child can retell the story using the ghost props and mats that came home today!

We had a special Super Star gathering to find out who was the Super Star for the month of October!

In the morning, we also got to play on the "big kids' playground" instead of our own for a little bit!

Tomorrow will be book check-out.  Also please start sending hats and mittens/gloves to school with your child each day!  Thank you for your cooperation!

Have a great evening!
