The afternoon session started off their day with a picnic lunch on their beach towels!
Then we met with Ms. Jarvela's class to sign autograph books. The children did a great job of using their words to ask a friend to sign!
Next we gathered on the carpet to explain the different stations to visit. Each child drew a colored block out of a bag to help determine which station to start at.
At Mrs. DeKeyser's station, the children did bubbles, played with the parachute, and did beach ball games. According to most students, this station was the most fun! :)
At another station, the children played beach ball bingo while working on lowercase letters. They had to cut out the beach balls and glue them onto a bingo board before playing the game.
The third station made sand cups for a snack. The sand cups were made out of vanilla pudding, crushed graham crackers, and gummi ocean animals/fruit snacks. They were delicious!
We also listened to a story about a sand castle contest. Miss McCabe gave each child their own copy of the book to keep at home to help remember the fun beach day at school!
After visiting the different stations, we came back to the classroom to say our good-byes. It was a little sad, but I hope everyone will come visit me next year!
In the afternoon, we went to a special farewell assembly for the Toneys. We sang a song called "Wave Good-bye" on stage.
I just want to thank everyone for a wonderful first year at Southern Door! Each of your children will hold a special place in my heart. I appreciate all of your support this year and thank you for sharing your children with me! Have a fantastic summer and I hope to see you next year! :)
