Today was another busy day with the substitute teacher. Sorry there are no pictures today! Tomorrow I will be back in the classroom and able to take pictures!
The story today was The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin. In the story, the other pumpkins laughed at Spookley because he was different from them. When a severe storm comes, the other pumpkins become glad that Spookley is there. Ask your child what Spookley did to save the day! The farmer then decided to plant some of Spookley's special seeds and his pumpkin patch turned into a unique one. There were pumpkins of all different shapes and colors - blue, purple, rainbow, triangular, rectangular, and square to name a few!
Some time was spent reviewing shapes and the letter Pp after reading the story.
Then we visited centers - pumpkin name writing, making a shape pumpkin, or creating a pumpkin life cycle booklet.
Afterwards we played. Making pink and purple pumpkins in playdough was the most popular! We also enjoyed painting at the easel!
After a delicious snack, we looked at books. Then we did our letter Pp mystery bags. There were all sorts of letter Pp items - ponies, peanuts, popcorn, pumpkins, and so much more!
We also played pumpkin letter memory together on the carpet.
Then it was time to go outside to play!
Remember that tomorrow is picture day! Bring your smiles! Also bring warm clothing and wear good walking shoes for our visit to the woods (if it doesn't rain)!
Have a great evening! :)
