Today was another fun-filled day! After doing our normal arrival routines, we talked about different types of homes, such as houses and apartments. Miss McCabe sang a song about different types of houses, such as houseboats, igloos, an adobe house, a castle, and so much more! We also briefly touched on animal homes, which we will talk about more next week.
We read the story of The Three Little Pigs. It was such a fun story to read together! Then we went to the table to work on making either a pig or a wolf mask/stick puppet to use to act out the story. Everyone worked so hard on taking their time to color in the pigs and the wolves.
Acting out the story using our masks/stick puppets was SOOOOOO much fun! We also enjoyed taking a bow after acting. Everyone was a good audience member while waiting for their turn to act out the story!
We even got to go into Mrs. Knudson's classroom to watch a short 10 minute video clip of the story. The video clip was a little different from the story. We compared and contrasted the two!
Then we recorded what we would build our house out of. There were several different ideas, such as feathers, bricks, straw, sticks, and blocks to name a few. Most children chose brick houses. The children were encouraged to help with the writing by helping identify the letter sounds they heard in the word. Some children even wrote their words all by themselves! Way to go, 4K students!
We played in the classroom. Several children wanted to use their masks/puppets to reenact the story at playtime too!
Remember to wear pajamas to school on Monday! Also please send hats and mittens/gloves to school each day with your child now that it is starting to get cooler.
Have a fantastic weekend!
