After getting our pictures taken, we spent some time reviewing the nursery rhyme "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater" and the letter Pp. Then we read the story Five Little Pumpkins. Miss McCabe had two different versions of the song that we listened to. Then we voted on which version was our favorite.
We spent some time working on the concept of first, second, third, fourth, and fifth. Miss McCabe had five students line up and we had to name who was fourth in line or second in line. This was a little tricky! We learned that first is another way to say number one, second is another way to use number two, and so forth. The song of "Five Little Pumpkins" helped us to work on the concepts of first, second, third, fourth, and fifth!
Then we made our own "Five Little Pumpkins" pictures. Originally we were going to bring them home today so we could teach you the song, but the pictures turned out so nice that the children wanted to hang them up at school for all the "big kids" to see!
We played in the classroom. The playdough was still very popular!
Another fun story that we listened to today was called Big Pumpkin. In the story, the witch wanted to make pumpkin pie. When she went to pull the pumpkin off of the vine, it was too big and she couldn't. Several other characters come along and offer to help, but none of them can get the pumpkin off of the vine. Then along comes the bat with an idea. Ask your child how they got the pumpkin off of the vine!

We spent some time talking about using good teamwork, just like in the story! Then we went to the table and made our own booklet using the characters from Big Pumpkin. Everyone did a good job of sequencing the characters in the order they appeared in the story! They loved how the booklet was similar to "Who Took the Cookie from the Cookie Jar?"
Remember to wear silly socks to school on Monday! If you don't have silly socks, you can easily wear a mismatched pair of socks to make it silly! :)
Have a great weekend!
