Handwashing

Today we continued to review our five senses.  Some time was spent discussing germs and what invisible means.  Sometimes germs are spread by touching something that has an invisible germ on it.  We read a story about all different types of germs - headache germs, throw up germs, fever germs, and so much more.

The story helped us to learn how to get rid of those germs so that we don't get sick.  We learned that handwashing gets rid of most germs, but not all.  Germs like wet places and our hands are wet when we wash them.  Carefully drying our hands with a towel after handwashing and throwing it in the garbage will help get rid of the germs that didn't rinse off in the water.

We practiced handwashing today.  Everyone learned how to scrub the fronts of their hands, the backs, and between the fingers.  We learned that we have to wash our hands for as long as it takes to sing the entire ABC song!

Everyone had fun identifying places that there may be invisible germs hiding in our classroom.  We stuck germ pictures onto a classroom picture.

Then we visited centers - scented painting, making a 5 senses headband, or coloring a coffee filter and spraying it with water.

We also played in the classroom!

After snack, we looked at "I Spy" books again.

We got out the sound shakers we made earlier in the week.  We listened to the different sounds each shaker made and tried to guess what was inside each shaker - noodles, beans, etc.  Everyone was excited to realize that each item made a different sound!

Then we danced with the shakers to the song "The Freeze."  We had to listen carefully because when the music stopped, we had to freeze and our shakers couldn't make any noise until the music started up again.  It was a lot of fun!

In the morning, we talked about appropriate uses for our hands while reading a story.  We learned that we can use our hands to wave, give high fives, give hugs, and so much more.  We also learned that it is NEVER okay to hit someone with our hands.  There was not time in the afternoon to read the story due to vision/hearing screening.

To end our day, we continued to practice our holiday songs before going outside to play.

Have a great evening!
