Today was another great day in 4K! The story we read today was about a girl who had a really, really, really long name - Catalina Magdalena Hoopensteiner Wallendiner Hogan Logan Bogan Smith! We talked about whether or not we would like to have a long name like that! Many children said that they would not like to have to write a name that is so long!
Then we counted and graphed how many letters were in our names. We analyzed our graph by talking about which number of letters there was the most of, least of, and were tied. Most children had names with 6 or 7 letters.
We visited centers again - hunting for the letters in our names, making our letter Nn alphabet book page and stamping letters by whether or not they belong in our name, or playing animal homes memory and sorting homes by whether they are for people or animals.
We also played in the classroom and continued to work on developing our social skills and learning through play.
One of the skills assessed on the 4K report card is the ability to draw a recognizable person with a certain amount of detail. We worked on that today using Mat Man. While singing a song, we used some special pieces to build Mat Man. Then we talked about the parts that should be present when drawing a person, such as a head, eyes, nose, body, arms, hands, legs, feet, etc. The children really enjoyed helping to build Mat Man!
Then we tried to draw our own picture of a person at the table, trying to remember to add details. Several children added eyebrows, eyelashes, hearts, belly buttons, and other fantastic details! Way to go, 4K students!
In the afternoon, we also had a visit from Altrusa. Everybody did a great job of remembering to use their manners for our special visitor! You can keep the book that is in your child's folder!
Remember that tomorrow is book check-out! We also will be visiting the Eagle's Nest for those that have 5 or more BEAK tickets! Turkey family projects are also due tomorrow! The children are very excited about sharing their turkey disguises with their classmates!
Book orders are also due tomorrow. There has only been one order placed so far. Remember that books make great gifts!
Have a great evening!
