Freeze! Melt!

Today we continued to read some silly snowmen stories!  The first one was a rhyming story about a snowman that was cold so he drank some hot cocoa to warm himself up and melted.  The children built him again, but he was still cold so he went into a hot tub.  The hot water melted him and he had to be rebuilt.  He did other things, such as stand by a fire.  The children were good friends and shared their warm hat, coat, and scarf with the snowman to help warm him up until he complained that he was too warm.  Instead of taking off the warm clothing, the children convinced him to eat ice cream to cool off.  Then he was comfortable and the children were relieved that he didn't melt again!  It was a silly story!

Miss McCabe also planned to read a story about snowmen at night, but when Mrs. DeKeyser heard that we were going to read it, she shared that it was her favorite story!  Therefore, Mrs. DeKeyser read the story to everyone on the carpet!  It was a special treat!  We enjoyed hearing about all the different activities the snowmen did at night, including drinking ice cocoa (instead of hot cocoa)!

We visited centers again - making shape snow scenes, stamping patterns, or making name snowmen and playing a winter game.

We also played in the classroom.

We also continued to work on making our name stockings.

After snack, we got out our winter hats.  Then we acted out the song "Five Little Snowmen."  Miss McCabe turned off the lights.  We pretended that the flashlight was the sun.  When we shone the flashlight, the snowmen had to melt to the ground.  Then we counted how many snowmen were left.  It was a lot of fun!

To end the day, we practiced our holiday songs with Ms. Jarvela and Ms. Mader.  Then we went outside to play!
