Happy Thursday! Today was an extremely busy day in 4K! We visited the Eagle's Nest and had Super Stars today!
We read a story by Jan Brett. The story was similar to Goldilocks and the Three Bears. In the story, three polar bears go for a stroll while waiting for their soup to cool. A girl named Aloo-ki loses her sled dogs and her search for them leads her to the polar bear's igloo. When the polar bears come back, they discover that someone ate their soup, tried on their boots, and slept in their beds. Everyone laughed at the different voices Miss McCabe used for the papa, mama, and baby polar bears!
Then we did some igloo projects at the tables. We made igloo Ii's for our alphabet books. It was fun using glitter paint to make the letters sparkle!
We also practiced using one-to-one correspondence while building igloos using stryrofoam peanuts. Everyone had to put a line of glue in each rectangle. Then they needed to dig through the styrofoam peanuts to find the white ones to place in each rectangle. This was a little trickier than it sounds!
We also played, but it was a shorter playtime today due to Super Stars, the Eagle's Nest, and holiday song practice with the other 4K and early childhood classes.
We worked on some problem-solving skills. Miss McCabe was trying to find her friend Sammy the Snowman but didn't know which snowman was Sammy. Miss McCabe described Sammy. Some clues were not helpful, such as Sammy has black eyes because all the snowmen did. Other clues helped us rule out some snowmen until we were able to figure out which one was Sammy. Good problem-solving skills, 4K students!
Our day ended with practicing our holiday songs and playing outside. The children are excited to start our gingerbread unit next week! Remember to send in the ingredients for our gingerbread cookies on Monday! Book orders are due on Tuesday. Orders placed by 4 p.m. on Tuesday will arrive prior to Christmas if you still want to order some books as Christmas gifts!
Have a great weekend!
