Then our bears helped us do the nursery rhyme that we have been learning all week - "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear." Our teddy bears got to turn around, touch the ground, climb up stairs, pretend to go to sleep, and so much more!
Our bears sat on our laps while we listened to Miss McCabe read Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Everyone laughed at Miss McCabe's silly voices!
We sorted our teddy bears by size - small, medium, or large. There were more medium-sized bears in both sessions.
We also read a silly story that had many nursery rhyme and fairy tale characters in it. A bear woke up but the porridge pot was missing. When he looked outside, he found huge porridge footprints and thought the porridge monster took his breakfast of porridge! The bear cub asked all sorts of well-known characters, such as Little Miss Muffet, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Little Red Riding Hood. At the end of the story, they discovered that it was really Goldilocks. She borrowed everyone's porridge pots so they could have a porridge party at the house of the three bears!
Our teddy bears watched while we made a giant bear project called "Meet My Bear." The children were interviewed and asked to give information about their teddy bears. Then they cut and glued together the parts of a bear. We learned about measurement today. The children enjoyed using unifix cubes to count how many cubes tall/long their bears were!
We enjoyed playing with our teddy bears too! Several children made food for their bears in home living, built caves for their bears in blocks, or read and cuddled with their bears in the bear cave. What fun!
In the morning, we had a special birthday celebration and ate cupcakes!
We also learned what a picnic is and listened to the song about The Teddybears' Picnic. In the story/song, everyone had to go as a bear. We learned what a disguise is and then wore our teddy bear headbands we made on Monday as a disguise for our own picnic!
We ate teddy grahams at our picnic. The teddy bears especially loved the honey teddy grahams! We also graphed our favorite teddy grahams - honey or chocolate chip. Several children couldn't choose between the two so we added another column for those that like both a lot. In the morning, there was a tie between liking both and the chocolate chip teddy grahams. The honey teddy grahams only lost by one vote! In the afternoon, chocolate chip teddy grahams got the most votes.
Then we went to the Eagle's Nest to exchange our BEAK tickets for prizes and went outside to play!
Whew! What a busy, busy day!
