We have been feeling like polar bears this week with the chilly weather outside! It has been a good week to study polar bears! There are no pictures today because there was a substitute teacher in the classroom.
During circle time, the children read a story called Polar Bear Scare. This story was fiction. They compared the fiction story to the non-fiction polar bear stories we had read on Monday and Tuesday.
They visited the final center today - polar bear letter fishing, a polar bear number sequencing puzzle, or playing a polar bear board game.
Then it was time to play. I heard that several children chose to hunt for the letters in their names, trace the letters, and then paint them at the easels again today. Tomorrow we are hoping to paint every child's foot for a special project to be used next week!
After snack, the children played a movement game with the substitute teacher to get out all of that energy since it has been too cold to play outside! There were icebergs placed all over the floor in our classroom. The children pretended to be polar bears swimming in the ocean. When the music stopped, they had to find an iceberg to stand on. The icebergs had different letters and numbers on them. It got tricky because each time the music stopped, they had to find a new letter or number iceberg to stand on and identify the letter or number. They could not go to the same iceberg twice!
Tomorrow I will be back in the classroom! We will get to cut out our letter J jello jigglers to eat for snack. Yum!
Have a great evening! :)
