Happy Monday! Our silly elf was playing with our letter magnets when we arrived at school! He left a message reminding us to be good!
Today we read the story of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! in our classroom. We discussed how sometimes it is better to give presents than to receive them.
We practiced sorting objects by beginning sounds onto the correct letter presents.
Then we played a Grinch game. In the game, we had to collect all 10 of our presents back from the Grinch! This game helped us practice counting with one-to-one correspondence and identifying numbers.
We also continued to work on some secret surprise projects!
Then we played in the classroom. The Grinch puzzle was popular!
Now that we have learned several letters and the sounds they make, the children are starting to connect how the letters when put together form words. There has been some interest in writing stories of their own! In the writing center, I have begun putting blank booklets for the children to use to create their own stories! Upon completion, the children are invited to read their stories to their classmates. Then they can choose to place the stories in our classroom library or take them home. Some children also choose to take the blank booklets home to create their stories! We shared one of the stories today.
Then we learned new vocabulary words, such as sole, tassel, buckle, and trim while playing a "What's Missing? Santa" game. We also read a silly story about Santa getting stuck in the chimney!
After reading a counting story, we went outside to play! Remember to still send boots, hats, and mittens even if the snow is melted!
Have a great evening! :)
