The children were excited to read a non-fiction book about whales! They are getting good at telling the difference between a fiction and a non-fiction book!
We also learned the song "Baby Beluga." A beluga is one type of whale. First we listened to the song and looked at the pictures in the book. Then we used beluga stick puppets to dance to the song. During the instrumental portion of the song, the children enjoyed pretending to play different instruments, such as a trombone, trumpet, saxophone, flute, and clarinet.
We visited centers. In the morning session, the children visited the final center that they had yet to visit. In the afternoon session, the children either made the octopus Oo alphabet book page or did the shark booklet.
There was also playtime to work on those important social skills.
In the afternoon session, the children worked on coloring a picture for an FFA coloring contest. Every child who colors a picture will get a string cheese.
During playtime, the children could choose to make an orca whale or continue to work on making stingrays to go on our ocean mural.
Look at how beautiful our mural is looking! We will continue adding to it tomorrow and next week!
After snack, we read a rhyming story about a scary shark. Guess what animal scared the shark off? It was a whale! Ask your child about the ending of the story - it wasn't a real whale that scared the shark off!
We also did the counting jar in both classes. Can you believe that we had to count past 100 in the afternoon?!
There was a little bit of extra time in the morning session to play the ocean game from yesterday again. We will try to find time to play it in the afternoon session sometime soon.
Have a great evening!
