Today the children had an exciting adventure at school! Both sessions got to meet for the first time ever and do lunch together! Then they got to go home due to the snow! The afternoon session had the shortest day ever at school!
In the morning, we read an ocean story called Over in the Ocean and hunted for hidden numbers in the story.
We went to centers where the children either made a shark booklet, played an ocean counting game, or made an Octopus Oo for their alphabet books.
Then we played.
For art, the children could choose to make a stingray to add to our ocean mural. It was neat because we used brads so the tail could move.
The children also worked on coloring a picture for the FFA coloring contest. Each child who colors a picture will get a string cheese! The children worked very hard on coloring their beautiful pictures!
After snack, we played a fun game! This game was similar to "Duck, Duck, Goose." Each child got a card with an ocean animal and letter on it. We learned a song that went something like: "Miss McCabe over the ocean, Miss McCabe over the sea, Miss McCabe caught an M, but you can't catch me!" Then the child who was named chose another child to chase him/her around the circle. It was a lot of fun and the children already asked if we can play the game again!
We also heard about Brownie's adventures.
I hope everyone gets home safely.
