Love Is In the Air!

When the 4K students arrived today, I could certainly feel the love in the air!  They were full of hugs, statements like "I missed you" and they even wrote about loving Miss McCabe in their journals, which is always special after being gone for a day!

Today it was the afternoon session's turn to have a "silly day" like the morning session did on Monday.  The afternoon session got to go to the auditorium to watch the dress rehearsal for the 5th grade musical.  Tomorrow is the opening performance.  Maybe I will see some of you there!

The morning session listened to the story How Do I Love You? and worked on identifying numbers.  We talked about how our families love us even if we don't always make good choices.  We also played a valentine number squeeze game and worked on those tricky teen numbers!

Then we did centers - making a valentine song booklet, playing heart number hopscotch, or counting playdough hearts.  The afternoon session did silly centers, which meant they played until a teacher called them to do a center activity.

We had a great time playing.  Today we finished up painting our ocean murals for next week.  The children are so proud of the murals!  In the morning session, several children had a lot of fun decorating Miss McCabe's desk for our valentine party tomorrow.

After snack, we talked about what we might need to do to prepare for a valentine party.  The children had a lot of ideas, such as making cards, decorating, and making treats.  We read a story about how some children prepared for their valentine party at school.

We also sang a valentine song to the tune of "Bingo."  It was fun clapping when Miss McCabe took away a letter.  Can you believe that Miss McCabe did not need to tell the 4K students what word she spelled?  They were able to figure out that the word was "heart" all by themselves!  What smart 4K students we are!

To end the day, we heard about Brownie's adventures and did the counting jar.

Have a fantastic evening! :)
