We wrote about puzzle day for our daily message too. The children have been taking over doing more of the writing! They are getting so good at hearing sounds in words!
During circle time, we read another book about Humpty Dumpty. In this book, Humpty Dumpty went to a birthday parade for King Moe. He could not see well so he decided to climb up a wall. Unfortunately he fell on top of King Moe's carriage. The king's men could not put Humpty together again, but it was a good thing that King Moe was good at puzzles! He was able to put Humpty together again and they became good friends afterwards.
We had a puzzle day so we could practice becoming very good at puzzles in case Humpty would ever need our help some day! We had a recording sheet and received a special stamp for every puzzle we completed. The children enjoyed using teamwork to put together large puzzles! There were also two puzzle centers that everyone had to complete: a beginning sound egg puzzle with Miss McCabe and making a Humpty Dumpty puzzle with Mrs. DeKeyser. Several children are planning on bringing their puzzle recording sheets back to school again to try to earn more stamps.
The children were so involved in the puzzles that we ended up continuing through our playtime so after snack, we skipped closing circle and had playtime then. Some children did choose to do more puzzles at playtime too!
We had a special birthday celebration in the morning session today.
Tomorrow will be our walk in the woods to visit the sugar shack. Please send boots!
Also please note that there may not be a blog post tomorrow night as I need to leave to attend an early childhood conference right after school that lasts through Saturday night. Therefore, the activities may not be posted until Sunday. I will try to at least post what we did tomorrow and add pictures at a later date!
