During circle time, we reviewed "Humpty Dumpty." The children also sang the "Humpty Dumpty" song with special actions. Several told me that they sang the song at home for their families last night! I am glad to hear they are talking about their school day at home! We read a book entitled Humpty Dumpty. It had a lot of rhymes in it! We learned some new vocabulary too, such as moat, while reading the story.
Then we played one of our favorite games - a "What's Missing? Humpty Dumpty" game.
In the nursery rhyme, the king's men were not able to put Humpty together again. We decided to see if we would be able to! We had to cut out all of Humpty's body parts. Then we glued him together again. The children especially enjoyed decorating Humpty Dumpty afterwards. They remembered to add details, such as nail polish, jewelry, earrings, and eyelashes!
Once Humpty Dumpty was put together again, the children enjoyed playing in the classroom.
After snack, we reviewed the new word we learned yesterday - oviparous. Then we learned a new word for animals that do not hatch from eggs - viviparous! The children enjoyed sorting pictures of animals into the categories of oviparous and viviparous.
In the morning session, we also heard about Brownie's adventures over spring break!
The children are very excited for our Humpty Dumpty Puzzle Day tomorrow! Please also remember that we will do book check-out tomorrow instead of Thursday due to our adventure in the school forest on Thursday!
