Flowers

Today we continued to talk about flowers.  We reviewed what a flower needs in order to grow.  Our story today was The Dinofours: My Seeds Won't Grow!    The story was about a dinosaur who was sad because his bean seeds were not growing as big as his classmates.  He made some poor choices in the story only to discover how sad his choices made others feel.  This story led to some good discussion about being a good friend.

Then we visited centers - making name flowers, labeling the parts of a flower, or watercolor painting rainbow Rr's.

Afterwards we played.

After snack, we played flower bingo to review letters and numbers.  In the morning session, one student had a new Pete the Cat book that we also read together.  We learned that "sharing is cool" from Pete the Cat.

I don't usually post about this on the blog, but each day the children have to sign-in when they arrive at school.  Our sign-in has progressed to working on last names and also journaling.  We have been working on stretching out sounds in words and writing what we hear.  Just look at how far they have come since the start of the school year!  I am proud of my 4K students! :)

Afternoon session parents only: Remember that tomorrow is disco day.  Your child is welcome to dress-up in 70's clothing (or sparkles).  The children requested today that they be able to bring their favorite music CDs to listen to.  They are welcome to as long as you are okay with it (and it is appropriate for school).  If you have the game Twister at home, we could use another set of the game for tomorrow as well.  Also if your child will be pulled out of class to attend the spring concert or picked up after the concert tomorrow, please send a note to let us know so we can be prepared for it.

Have a great evening! :)
