Shape Monster, Shape Monster...

Today was another exciting day in 4K!  We learned a new hello song to sing at our opening circle time today.  First we talked about how there are many different ways to say "hello," such as wave, give a hug, give a handshake, or even use a foreign language!  We read a short story about different ways to say "hello" to our friends and talked about using gentle touches.  Then we got to practice saying "hello" to all of our friends at school using our new hello song, "Shake a Hand."  In the song, we were able to give high fives, shake hands, give hugs, wink, and so much more!  It was a lot of fun!

We also reviewed what we learned about feelings yesterday and enjoyed singing the silly version of "If You're Happy and You Know It" again while acting out different emotions!

Our project today was to make a shape monster booklet!  The last page was the most fun because everyone got to create their own unique shape monster.  We are getting to be great readers as everyone helped Miss McCabe read the words on each page!  See if your child can read his/her booklet to you!  It would also be a great way to continue to review and reinforce the shapes and colors at home too!  The children were chanting the words "shape monster, shape monster, munch, munch, munch" all day long!

After a delicious snack and some time spent looking at books, we shared our "About Me" projects!  It was exciting to get to sit in Miss McCabe's chair and help our friends learn new things about us!  We are still missing a couple of projects, but when they all are in then I will start sending the book home on a rotation so your child can tell you all about his/her friends at school!
