Friends Share

We had another great day at school!  We sang "Twinkle Friends" again today to greet all of our friends at school.

Today we continued to talk about friendship.  We read a story about some friends that played nicely together.  When the boy gets a brand new toy and doesn't want to share, a tug-of-war evolves until the new toy breaks.  Then both the boy and girl are sad.  They stop being friends and are lonely because they have nobody to play with.  By the end of the story, they became friends again after the girl apologized and helped the boy fix his toy.  We talked about how good friends share and help one another.

Miss McCabe taught us how to play a "What's Missing?" game.  We had to use our good looking eyes to figure out what was missing on each page.  It was a lot of fun and we learned some new vocabulary words, such as overalls, straps, buckles, soles (bottoms of our shoes), and so much more!  This game also helped us practice our positional words!

We did centers again.  Everyone rotated to a different activity from yesterday.  Ask your child which activity he/she did today!  They either made a dinosaur counting booklet, played the mystery name game, or practiced writing different strokes to the song "Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush."  Some children even practiced being a good friend and helping when all the letter cards spilled during the mystery name game!  It made me so happy! :)

We also played in the classroom.  Several children chose to continue making a shape collage while cutting shapes at the sensory table.

There was a special birthday celebration in the morning session today.  After snack, we learned the nursery rhyme "Jack and Jill."  Miss McCabe taught everybody some actions to go with the nursery rhyme.  See if your child can show you the actions!  We learned what a rhyme is and found the rhymes in "Jack and Jill."

We continued to review positional words while doing "The Hokey Pokey."

There was a fire drill in the afternoon.  We all did a great job of going outside to our meeting place and waiting nicely in line!  Great job, 4K students!

After the fire drill, we played "Follow the Leader" on the playground again to work on those positional words.  It was a lot of fun!

Have a great evening!
