We had a fantastic second day of school! Today we continued to work on learning some of the routines and rules at school. We did a great job of remembering how to walk in a line and the procedures for using the bathroom and washing our hands!
We did our sign-in sheets where we practice writing our name each day when we come to school.
Some time was spent talking about some of the classroom rules and why
they are important. We talked about how school needs to be a place
where we can be happy and safe. We talked about how each of the rules
helps us to be happy and safe.
There were two different stories we read today. One was about Pete's new shoes. He kept stepping on different items and they would change colors. Instead of getting upset, Pete kept walking along and singing his song. This may be our new favorite story! The children were singing the song throughout the day!
The second story was about Pete the Cat's visit to school. We compared his school experience to ours and realized that Pete the Cat did a lot of things at school that we also do, such as look at books, do art, play outside, and eat at school! Both books are in the Scholastic Book Orders that will be sent home tomorrow, if you are interested in purchasing a copy for your child to read at home! The songs can be downloaded for free.
Then we talked about what we love at school. We made our own class book for our classroom library about what we love at school. There were a lot of different things we like about school!
We also traced our hands for a special project we will continue to work on tomorrow.
Then we played in the classroom. There was some excitement over the shape beads and lacing strings in the sensory table!
We ended our day with some songs, a snack, and playing outside! It was a busy day!
