During circle time, we learned all about our new letter! It is Dd for Dr. Seuss, dinosaur, dollar, duck, and so much more! We read some books that helped us learn words that start with Dd.
We also pretended to dig in "dirt" for dinosaurs. It was a fun activity to reinforce letter Dd.
We also practiced making the /d/ sound while tracing dinosaur d.
We visited centers and will rotate through one each day. At Miss McCabe's center, we read There's a Wocket in My Pocket and had fun with all the silly rhyming words Dr. Seuss created. Then we played rhyming bingo!
At the second center, the students listened to the story Green Eggs and Ham. Then they made their own art project to go with the story. Finally, they filled a prompt with a set of rhyming words of their choosing.
The third center played in Ms. Mader's classroom. When they came back, they made dinosaur Dd for their alphabet books.
Today there were surprise "Drop Everything and Read" times announced. When an announcement came on, we had to stop what we were doing and read. Miss McCabe read the entire class a Dr. Seuss alphabet book. Then children looked at books themselves for the remaining time.
We played. Most children chose to visit the sensory table where there were dinosaurs and sand to explore!
Today the prizes for the FFA coloring contest came in. It came too late for the morning session, but we will enjoy it tomorrow. In the afternoon, we got to eat the string cheese prize for snack.
After snack, we played a Cat in the Hat roll and color game. Each group of children played a version that focused on numbers they needed more practice with.
Then we went outside to play!
Remember to wear silly socks to school tomorrow!
